Who we are
Holiday Scanner (Holiday Scanner) operates holiday-scanner.com as a travel discovery and comparison service. We do not sell flights, hotels, or car rentals directly. This policy explains what personal data we process and why.
Data we collect
Depending on how you use the site, we may process: account details (email, display name) when you sign in; saved trips and preferences linked to your account; technical logs (browser type, approximate region, pages viewed); a first-party session identifier for analytics and affiliate attribution; and, when you use the Trip Planner, the text of your request and generated recommendations.
Why we use your data
We process data to provide the service (search, saved trips, authentication), improve content and relevance, measure aggregate traffic when you consent to analytics, attribute affiliate referrals, prevent abuse (rate limits), and comply with legal obligations.
Legal bases (EEA / UK / CH)
Where applicable, we rely on contract performance (account features you request), legitimate interests (security, product improvement, affiliate accounting), and consent (non-essential cookies and optional analytics). You may withdraw consent for cookies at any time via the banner or browser settings.
Processors and partners
We use infrastructure and service providers such as hosting (e.g. Vercel), database and authentication (Supabase), email (if configured), AI inference (OpenAI or compatible API, when enabled), and affiliate travel partners when you follow outbound links. Partner sites have their own privacy policies governing bookings.
Retention
Account data is kept while your account is active and deleted on request where technically feasible. Server logs and affiliate click logs are retained for a limited period for fraud prevention and reporting, then aggregated or deleted.
Your rights
You may request access, correction, deletion, or restriction of your personal data, and object to certain processing, where applicable law provides these rights. Contact us using the details in the imprint. You may also lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.
International transfers
Some providers may process data outside Switzerland or the EEA. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses offered by our vendors.
Children
The service is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top indicates the latest revision. Material changes will be reflected on this page.
